Youth Club Swankha to take on Pallanwalla in title clash

JAMMU, Sept 23: Scripting resounding wins over their rivals in the respective semifinals, Youth Club Swankha and Pallanwalla Volleyball Club today sealed berth in the boys finals of the ongoing Jammu District Volleyball Championship and would lock-horns with each other in the summit clash at Shastri Nagar ground, here tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the finals in the girls section between PG Department, University of  Jammu and APS Bari Brahmana ‘A’ would also be held at the same venue tomorrow.
Manmeet Singh, president, Jammu District Volleyball Association was the chief guest in today’s proceedings, while Kuldip Magotra, General Secretary, J&K Volleyball Association, Sudarshan Gupta, Senior Vice President Volleyball Association and HS Gill, Organising Secretary of the Tournament also witnessed the matches.
Earlier, riding on splendid display of smashing and lifting skills by Amil, Sumit and Yogeshwar, Pallanwalla Club blanked Shastri Nagar ‘A’ in straight three sets (3-0) by (25-16, 25-23, 27-25) in the semifinals to sail into the finals. Though, Abid and Irfan played superbly from Shastri Nagar ‘A’ team but could not stop skillful opponents from registering an emphatic victory.
In another semifinal match, Youth Club Swankha thrashed Army Public School (APS) Akhnoor in straight sets (3-0) by (26-24, 25-22, 25-13). For Youth Club Swankha, Anil, Vikrant, Deepak and Arvind displayed a fabulous show throughout the match, while good performance of Rajat, Prateek and Anjit from APS Akhnoor went in vain.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Sharma, Anand Sharma, Akbar Ali, Subash Shastri and Onkar Singh Gill.
