JAMMU, July 16: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu has expressed concern over the attitude of the Government in causing delay to install the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway here.
In an emergency meeting of the DGPC held here today, under the chairmanship of Jagjit Singh, the members discussed the demand of the community to install statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at the already decided place and the delaying attitude of the State Government. They pointed out that former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had agreed in principle to install the statue at Kunjwani. Moreover, recently, the Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta had announced Rs 10 lakh for the same in presence of Sikh Sangat on the eve of Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji in Jammu which was widely welcomed by one and all.
Not only this, the Minister in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and BJP national secretary R P Singh had also recently supported the cause of the community and promised that matter would be taken up with the present Government but unfortunately, nothing concrete has been done in this regard so far. The DGPC also welcomed the support extended by AAP by organizing one day protest dharna at Kunjwani Chowk on July 17. They also invited all the political and social organizations to support the cause.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included H S Raina, Kuldip Singh, Mohinder Singh- patron, Mohinder Singh- joint secretary , Manmohan Singh, Jaspal Singh Mangal, Manjeet Singh and Surinder Singh Wazir.
