JAMMU, July 16: One person was killed and three others sustained injuries, one of them critically, when a truck plunged into gorge in Kishtwar district today.
Police spokesman said that a truck bearing registration number JK02T-1021, which was on its way to Kishtwar from Dool, rolled down on Padder-Kishtwar road reportedly due to negligence of the driver.
On getting information about the accident, a police party rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. All the four occupants of the truck namely Mohd Iqbal, son of Mujeed of Chatroo, Akhter Hussain, son of Abdul Rashid of Dool, Ashok Badyal, son of Mangat Ram of Wasser and Jaffer Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal of Huller were rushed to District Hospital.
In the hospital, Jaffer Iqbal was declared as brought dead. Later, Ashok Badyal was referred to Jammu for treatment in Government Medical College and Hospital in view of his critical condition.
The condition of all the injured was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
