SAMBA, July 21: Samba zone defeated Ramgarh zone in the final clash of the Inter School Zonal Level Cricket Tournament organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports, district Samba, at Samba Stadium today.
All the participants of five zones participated in the tournament. The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of the District Officer, Subash Chander Bhardwaj and under the guidance of Director General, DYSSO, J&K, Jehangir Mir.
MLA Samba, Dr DK Manyal, was the chief guest on the occasion while SSP Samba, Joginder Singh was the guest of honour.
The final match of the tournament was played between Samba and Ramgarh zones in which Samba won by one run in a keenly contested final match.
Savan Kumar was declared as the best batsman of the tournament. He scored 39, 49 and 10 runs in first, 2nd and 3rd matches, respectively. Vishav who took three wickets and made 22 runs, was declared as Man of the Match whereas Sachin, who took 2 wickets in his 3-over spell by giving 16 runs and also got one batsman run out, was adjudged as best bowler of the match.
Those present on the occasion were Rakesh Verma, BD Sharma, Vijay Singh Slathia, Pardeep Singh and Raghubir Singh— all Zonal Physical Education Officers.
