CAB honours Bose with Lifetime Achievement award

KOLKATA: Former Bengal captain Gopal Bose was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Cricket Association of Bengal here today.
CAB president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly handed a blazer, a citation and a cheque of Rs two lakh to Bose who was legendary Sunil Gavaskar’s opening partner in the early 1970s.
“I am honoured and feel humbled to receive this honour. This day will remain special forever. I would like to thank CAB,” the 69-year-old, who played a solitary ODI for India, said at the CAB Annual Awards here.
Representing Rest of India, Bose scored his first class career-best of 170 against Bombay in 1973-74 as he was picked for the tour of Ceylon later that season.
In the first unofficial Test, he got a century in a 194-run opening partnership with Gavaskar to be picked for the tour of England but he could not find a place in the Test side.
The CAB also gave the Best Cricketer of the Year award to Sudip Chatterjee, while Ashok Dinda was adjudged Best Fast Bowler. (AGENCIES)
