Khalsa Club wins 5th Naresh Memorial Cricket Tourney

SAMBA, July 23: Khalsa Club won the Naresh Memorial Night Cricket Tournament by defeating the Patti Club in the final clash of the tournament held last night at village Rahya in Bari Brahamana.
A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament, which was organized by people of village Rahya in the memory of Shaheed Naresh Kumar, who had joined CRPF in 2007 and sacrificed his life for the Nation in an encounter with militants at Jharkhand.
After defeating their respective rival teams in various matches, Khalsa Club Jammu and Patti Club confirmed their places in the final, which was played last night in which Khalsa Club emerged winner and thus won the tournament.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, was the chief guest in the final match. He presented trophies to the winner and runner up teams and individual prizes to best performers.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister advised the youth to participate more and more in the games, as games not only make one physically and mentally strong but also help in keeping the youth away from drugs and other social evils.
He said that PDP-BJP Government in the State is committed to uplift the sports infrastructure in the State so that more and more youth from the State may bring laurels for the State in National and International level tournaments.
