14th J&K State Taekwondo C’ship commences

JAMMU, Sept 24: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association, under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India, 14th J&K State Taekwondo Championship got underway at Multipurpose Hall in MA Stadium, here.
About 400 players and officials are participating in this championship. The participating districts include Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda, Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam and  Kargil.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the chief guest JP Singh, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range.
Anil Gupta, Chairman J&K Taekwondo Association, Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI and Assistant Director JU, Surinder Singh Bunty, Provincial President Youth National Conference, were the guests of honour.
HK Pangotra, MD Jai Maa Electricals, Sat Paul Sharma, SAI Badminton Coach, Ashok Singh Manager Indoor Stadium, Ramesh Sharma, Samir Vohra, Deep Sharma, Gurinder Rakwal were also present on the occasion.
The Championship is being organized under the overall supervision of Taekwondo Federation of India and Shiv Prakash Shukla, International Referee, has been deputed by TFI as an Observer for this championship.
The technical team is being headed by Atul Pangotra (NIS) International Referee, Subash Thakur, International Referee, Shiv Kumar, National Referee from Punjab Police, Vikrant Narwalia, Arjun Gupta, Birender Singh, Mukta Gupta, Zahir Abbas, Mohd. Ali, Vivek Padha, Rajjat Thakur, Sanjay Kumar, Shazia Batool, Mannzoor, Rahul Singh Chib, Rajesh Sharma, Arvind Satti, Adnan (all National Referees).
Others present on the occasion were PC Sharma, President J&K Taekwondo Association, DN Pangotra, General Secretary J&K Taekwondo Association and Anuj Sharma Member DJTA and Convenor of the championship.
The gold medallists of this championship would participate in the forthcoming Sub Junior National Taekwondo Championship to be held in Lucknow from October 5 to October 7, 2012.
Closing ceremony of the championship will be held at M.A. Stadium Jammu tomorrow at 4:30 pm, wherein Prof MPS Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu will be chief guest.
