Pallanwalla, PG Deptt lift Volleyball titles

JAMMU, Sept 24: Pallanwalla Club and the Post Graduate (PG) Department, University of Jammu lifted the boys and girls volleyball titles respectively of the Jammu District Volleyball Championship, which concluded at Shastri Nagar grounds, here today.
In the boys final, Pallanwalla Club trounced Youth Club Swankha by three sets to one (3-1) with the final scores reading (25-19, 25-27, 25-20, 25-23). Winning the first set, Pallanwalla Club lost the second and won the remaining two and registered a convincing victory.
Anil Singh of Pallanwalla and Deepak Singh of Youth Club Swankha were adjudged best players of the tournament and received a cash prize of Rs 2000 each from the president, J&K Volleyball Association.
Earlier, in the girls final, PG Department, University of Jammu, blanked Army Public School Bari Brahmana ‘A’ in straight three sets (3-0) by (29-27, 25-17, 25-18) to win the title.
Dilbagh Singh, IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, Jammu University, was also present on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were the office bearers of Volleyball Association Kuldip Mangotra, Sudershan Gupta, Manmeet Singh Aman and HS Gill.
