Police Martyrs’ Badminton C’ship gets underway

UDHAMPUR, Sept, 24 : The  2nd Range level Police Martyrs Memorial Badminton Championship got underway at Indoor Badminton Complex Udhampur here today.
The tournament is being organised by the Udhampur -Reasi Range Police under Civic Action Plan.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Mr. P.K Pole, who was the chief guest on the occasion, formally declared the championship open.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur- Reasi Range, Mr. Jagjit Kumar, SSP Udhampur, Ashkoor Wani, Additional SP, Mr. Benam Tosh,  Staff Officer to DIG, Nasir Ahmed, Dy. SP, Mr. Bodh Raj (Nodal Officer), Officers of Youth Services & Sports Department, veteran players, prominent citizens and number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that holding of this tournament was a step forward to remember the supreme sacrifices of the brave police martyrs and to encourage the sports culture for healthy society.
The DIG said that the championship is being organized with the Technical Assistance of Youth Services and Sports Department as per the rules and regulations of Badminton Association of India. He said that badminton players from district Udhampur and Reasi are participating in this championship under 14 years and  19 years boys and girls, above 19 years to 45 years and above 45 years under mens categories.
