Illicit liquor still smashed, bootleggers held

REASI, July 25: In separate cases, Police today arrested two bootleggers in Katra town and seized 27 pouches of liquor from their possession while illicit liquor still was smashed at Chassana and the accused was held.
Acting on specific information, a  police party under the supervision of SHO Katra, Inspector Arvind Sambyal,  laid a nake  near Durga Bhawan in Katra town and apprehended two persons namely Sanjeev Kumar of  Chandani Akhnoor and  Deepu Verma of Raja Bazar Akhnoor. During frisking, the Police team recovered 27 Poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from their possession
Police seized the recovered liquor and arrested both the accused. In this connection, a case FIR No. 139/2016 U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC has been registered at P/S Katra.
Meanwhile, acting on specific information that one Ganga Ram of Tulli Banna, tehsil Chassana, was indulged in manufacturing and selling of Desi liquor at his home, a Police team of PP Tulli Banna raided the said house.
Police smashed the illicit still and recovered 1½ litre desi liquor from the possession of accused, who was also arrested on the spot.
A case FIR No. 36/2016 U/S 48-(e) Excise Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Chassana.
