JAMMU,  July 28:  Blaming the authorities for the current power crises in the area due to putting  additional load on Kalakote Grid Station, former MLC  and  senior Congress leader has expressed serious concern over the grim power scenario in Nowshera and Sunderbani area of Rajouri district during the past few days  and cautioned the authorities of growing unrest among the people.
Mr Sharma was apprised by the people that there are long duration cuts ,while the power goes-off very frequently because of overloading  as a result the people have to pass sleepless nights but the authorities failed to take notice of the acute problem.
The Ex-MLC strongly criticized the authorities for diverting power from 50 MVA transformer at Kalakote which was installed after long drawn struggle of Nowshera, Sunderbani people  by previous Govt and the power supply from this station was exclusively  meant for this area.
However,  the recent  problem is due to unauthorized diversion  of power to other areas, leaving the people of Nowshera- Sunderbani to face the same old situation, as it existed prior to upgradation of Kalakote power station from 20 MVA to 50 MVA.
Urging the higher authorities of the department  to take immediate notice of the situation, as there is large scale resentment and unrest among the people who would take to streets, if urgent measures are not taken in this regard.
