JAMMU, July 31: J&K Bank Academy will take on Jammu Sports and Young Hero’s will clash with Shaheen Football Club in the semifinals of the 2nd Vishal Heer Memorial Football Tournament, being played at GGM Science College ground, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first quarterfinal match, J&K Bank Academy registered win over Vijay Club by 2-1 goals. From J&K Bank Academy side, the first goal was scored by Pankaj Sharma in 32nd minute, whereas the second goal was netted by Gautam Mehra in 56th minute. From Vijay Club side, Sandeep Sharma scored the goal in 35th minute. During the game, Sunil Kumar of Vijay Club was shown yellow card.
In the second quarterfinal, Param Football Club lost to Shaheen Football Club by 6-4 goals via tie-breaker. From Shaheen FC side, Sanpreet Singh scored the first goal of the match in 20th minute. Arjun of Param FC equalized the game in the 32nd minute. The players of both the teams strived hard to win the game, but failed and the match ended with 1-1 goals. In tie-breaker, Aman Sharma, Aniket and Ajay netted the goals, whereas from Shaheen FC side, Nitin, Neeraj, Mohit, Arjun and Sourav scored the goals, won the match and registered berth in the semis of the tournament. During the match, the yellow cards were shown to Aman Banathia of Param FC and Anish of Shaheen FC.
In the third quarterfinal, Jammu Sports registered win over Jammu United by straight 3-0 goals. From Jammu Sports side, first goal was scored by Rahul in 43rd minute, whereas the second and third goals were netted by Sugam in 55th and 70th minutes. Yellow card was shown to Raju of Jammu United.
In the fourth quarterfinal, Young Hero’s smashed Engineer XI by solitary goal. Parveen Kumar of Young Hero’s netted the goal in the 32nd minute through penalty, which the opponent team players failed to equalized and paved way for Young Hero’s to enter in the semifinal stage of the tournament.
The matches were officiated by Rakesh Kumar, Suresh Gupta, Rohit Kumar, Tushar Heer, Pankaj Kumar, Jhony, Gautam Mehra, Rajinder Singh and Rohit Gupta.
The matches were witnessed by Mohan Lal, Devi Dass, Ramesh Chander, Rohit Kumar, Tushar Heer, Pankaj Kumar, Narinder Gupta, Rajesh Sumberia, David Masih, Yousuf Don, etc.
The tournament is being organized by Harbans Lal in the memory of the football player Vishal Heer, who died on October 15, 2013.
