JAMMU, Aug 1: Inter School District and Zone Level Competitions in various disciplines, being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports was held at different venues.
JAMMU: Inter School District Level Competition in the Tennis Ball Cricket for under-19 boys gets underway at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, here.
In all 96 boys drawn from 8 institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competition.
In the first match, GHSS Akhnoor beat Banyan International by 6 wickets. Banyan International School scored 33 runs by losing 3 wickets in 5 overs. In reply GHSS Akhnoor scored 34 runs by losing 3 wickets in 5 overs.
In the second match, Ranbir Higher Secondary School defeated Lawrence Public School. Lawrence Public School made 26 for the loss of 4 wickets in five overs, which Ranbir HSS chased in 3.2 overs.
In the third match, Bhalwal Zone beat MIER by 13 runs. Bhalwal Zone scored 50 runs by losing 5 wickets in 5 overs and in reply MIER failed to chase the target and bundled out at 37 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 5 overs.
The two semi-finals and the final matches will be played tomorrow at the same venue.
SAMBA: Inter School Zone Level Badminton Championship for under-19 boys and girls was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School here. All the five zones participated in the tournament.
First position was bagged by Ramgarh, while second and third positions were clinched by Samba and Ghagwal.
KATHUA: Inter School District Level Tournament in the disciplines of Badminton, Speedball, Swimming, Chess, Table Tennis, Judo, SM Art, Karate and Wrestling for under-19 boys and girls concluded here at Sports Stadium.
In Wrestling Competition, Kaka Singh of Government HSS Kathera emerged winner in 44 kg category, whereas in 50 kg category, Bagh Hussain of Government HSS Kathua stands first, in 55 kg category, Bagh Hussain of Government HSS Marheen emerged winner, in 60 kg category, Manjoor Hussain of GHSS Kathera stands first, in 66 kg category, Lovely Sharma of GHSS Kathera clichéd top position, in 74 kg category, Akhil Sharma of Spring Dales secured first position and in 84 kg category, Keshav Sharma of GHSS Chandwan emerged winner.
BHADERWAH: District Level Inter-School Tournament for Under-19 girls in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball concluded at Government Higher Secondary School, here. In Volleyball, Government Girls Higher Secondary School defeated GHSS Chinta and emerged winner, while in Kabaddi Government Higher Secondary School, Thatri smashed GHSS Bhaderwah and claimed title trophy, whereas in Kho-Kho, GHSS Thathri outplayed GHSS Gath and emerged as winner.
