RAMBAN, Aug 2: Ukhral police arrested two persons along with haul of illicit liquor pouches.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ukhral police post laid a naka at Ukhral-Makarkot Link Road and intercepted four pedestrians, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, two pedestrians managed to escape from the spot taking benefit of the darkness, while two others were arrested.
During checking, police recovered 429 illicit liquor pouches from the possession of persons and arrested them on spot.
The accused have been identified as Amar Singh, son of Sher Singh and Insaf Singh, son of Tara Chand, both residents of Senabati.
The accused were carrying the illicit liquor pouches on foot and were about to store consignment in their den but police foiled their attempt by arresting them and seizing illicit liquor pouches, which was supposed to be sold in general public to earn illegitimate profit.
A case under FIR Number 56/16 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at police station Ramsoo and manhunt has been launched to nab two associates of the arrested accused, who have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed and Pervaiz Ahmed.
Police team led by Incharge Ukhral police post SI Anil Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Ramsoo Inspector Mohammad Ameen and SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq.
