Excise Department gives away prizes to winners of Painting Competition

SAMBA, Aug 5: Excise Department today organized a function to give prizes to the winners of the Painting Competition organised by the department on May 22 as part of anti-drug campaign.
The chief guest, Excise Commissioner, Tsering Angchok gave away the prizes to the students of various schools who participated in the painting competition “Drug addiction is an invitation to Death and Destruction”.
The competition was held under two categories of Ist to 6th standard and 7th to 12th standard. Five awards in each category were announced on the occasion.
The first prize carried cash award of Rs. 4000 a trophy and a certificate, second prize was cash award of Rs. 3000, trophy and a certificate and the third prize was Rs 2000, a trophy and a certificate. Two consolation prizes of cash award of Rs 1000 and a certificate were also announced on the occasion.
In first category (Ist to 6th), Khushi Dabgotra and Purnica Choudhary of 6th Standard of MV International, Vijaypur, bagged first and second prizes respectively, while third prize went to Amit Bavouria (class 6), of Govt. Middle School, Rara.
The consolation prizes were given to Sanjana Devi, (Class 6th), Govt. Middle School, Chack Chibba Khurd and Lakshmi Sharma (class 6th), Govt. Middle School, Sarwa.
In the second category (7th to 12th), Atish Slathia of MV International School and Munish Shani of GMS Chak Chiba bagged first and second prizes respectively, while the third prize went to Sunita Devi of GHS Mahal Sahan.
The consolation prizes were given to Aryaveer Singh Sambyal,(class 8) of Kristu Jyoti Convent and Seema Devi (class 7th), GNS Gudwal.
On the occasion, the awardees were declared as Ambassadors for Anti Drug drive and were decorated by a special cap.
In his address, Excise Commissioner highlighted the efforts made by the Department to create awareness against drug abuse and drunken driving.
Others present on the occasion included, Dy. Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Sharma, Dy. Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur Shagun Sharma, Dy. Excise Commissioner, (Accounts), Jammu, Renu Principal Nagrota Excise Training institute, CEO Samba O P Bhagat members of the Jammu Wine Trade and Bar Associations and Tinna Mahajan ETO Samba.
