Karan lifts TT Championship title

JAMMU, Aug 10: Table Tennis (TT) Championship in men’s category concluded at KC Sports Club today.
The initial five matches were fought tooth and nail. In the first match, Tushar Gupta ousted Rahul Gupta with a score of 5-11, 11-8 and 11-8, whereas in the second match, Nikhil Sharma overpowered Arjun Bharti in straight sets with a score of 11- 8 and 11-6. The third match proved to be the toughest with RD Bali managing to overcome his opponent Pranav Sharma with a long-fought score of 16-14 and 15-13. The fourth and fifth matches turned out to be somewhat one-sided with Karan Nanda ousting Ayush Mahajan with 11-03 and 11-08 and Nikhil Sharma getting the better of Anish Singh with 11-5 and 11-5.
In quarterfinals, Nikhil Sharma proved to be too good for RD Bali with the score of 11-02 and 11-07 but lost to Karan Nanda with 11-06 and 11-08. The semi-final between Karan and Nikhil was well fought with the match going in favour of Nanda with 11-09 and 11-07.
In the final match between Karan and Tushar Gupta who had earned a berth for the finals on the basis of his superior margin in the initial matches, Karan grabbed the Championship with a score of 11-10 and 11-07.
