JAMMU, Aug 17: Jammu Muslim Front has appealed the Government of India to politically resolve the Kashmir issue and restore peace by initiating dialogue, instead of focusing on Balochistan.
Expressing deep concern over the killing of protesters, the Front has also urged the Government to stop use of pellet guns and hold an inquiry in the recent deaths. “The Government should direct security forces to avoid opening of fire directly on the unarmed protesters. The security forces have many means to deal with the demonstrators avoiding non-lethal ways so that the casualties could be avoided,” said JMF president Imran Qazi and general secretary Shuja Zaffar, in a press statement, issued here today.
Both the leaders expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi raking up Balochistan issue, instead of focusing on Kashmir. “It seems that our PM is more concerned over human right violations in Balochistan and this has created a confusion among the people that whether the Government of India is serious about the people who are facing bullets,” they said and added that nothing could be solved by avoiding the unfortunate situation.
Kashmiris are going away from the Government due to alienating policies. The Government should not further isolate them. Time has come when we have to work unitedly with Government and other members of civil society to bring peace in Kashmir,” they said and suggested former Sadar-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh may be consulted over the issue and calm down the situation in Valley.
