JAMMU, Aug 17: A religious preacher was today arrested for cheating people on the pretext of Government jobs from Kotli Mian Fateh area, falling under the jurisdiction of RS Pura police station.
As per police sources, Moulvi Abdul Majid was arrested in Kotli Mian Fateh area of RS Pura on the basis of complaints filed by some people.
The people hailing from Bani area of District Kathua had lodged complaints with SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal stating that Majid had taken money from them after promising to get them Government jobs in exchange.
A case has been registered against Majid at RS Pura police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura Inspector Pawan Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SP Headquarters RC Kotwal.
