Protestors block NH at 2 places

KATHUA, Aug 17: The irate villagers of Hamirpur protesting against the failure of the administration to locate the gramsevak who is reportedly missing for last one month blacked Jammu_ Pathankot National Highway for two hours near Hiranagar today from 10 am to 12 noon.
The protestors said that during last one month several assurances were given by the administration but the missing Gramsevak was not traced who had already received threat calls.
The protestors raising slogans against the administration demanded immediate tracing of the missing gram sevak. They warned to intensify the agitation in case the gram sevak was not located immediately.
Due to the highway blockade there was a huge jam up to many kilometers on NH. The blockade was later lifted after the SDM Hiranagar and SDPO Hiranagar visited the spot and assured the agitating people that police will try its best to locate the missing gram sevak and it was on the job. They said that so far the police has not got any lead of the missing gram sevak and in case they have any clue or information they should share it with the police. On the assurance of the two officers the protestors dispersed later.
Meanwhile the National Highway was blocked at Morechani by villagers of Pantal for half an hour in protest against the power crisis in the area due to breakdown of transformer since last one week.
Later, the SDPO and SDM of Hiranagar visited the spot also and pacified the agitating people. The two officers assured them that they will take up the issue with the PDD authorities and transformer will be replaced by today.
