NEW DELHI : President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and many other dignitaries hailed Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik’s bronze medal feat in women’s wrestling at the Rio Olympics.
”Hearty Congratulations to #SakshiMalik for winning a medal in women’s wrestling in #Rio2016 and doing India proud”, the President said in a message.
An elated Prime Minister Mr Modi tweeted “Sakshi Malik creates history ! Congratulations to her for the Bronze..,..The entire nation is rejoicing”.
“On this very auspicious day of Rakshya Bandhan, Sakshi Malik, a daughter of India, wins a Bronze & makes all of us very proud. #Rio2016”, the PM wrote in a series of tweets.
“Sakshi Malik will inspire several sports persons in the years to come”, Mr Modi hoped.
Before departure of the Indian contengent for the olympics, Mr Modi had wished good luck to Sakshi and other members of the Indian squad. Congress President Ms Gandhi has congratulated Sakshi Malik on winning Bronze Medal at the Rio Olympics,
Terming it as a moment of pride and honour for India, Ms Gandhi said, ‘Sakshi’s extraordinary journey & success is inspiring’.
Home Minister Mr Singh said in his message “Congratulations to Sakshi Malik on winning the first medal for #IND in Rio Olympics..,..Her victory will inspire millions in India”, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also hailed her triumph as ‘incredible win that makes pride all in the country”.
