KATHUA, Aug 18: Five people were killed while 10 others were injured in separate road accidents in Samba and Kathua districts today.
According to reports, two motorcycle borne youth were killed when a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK02 AP-1125 hit the Pulsar Motorcycle bearing registration number JK21 B/6030 at SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana after the driver of the truck lost control over steering.
Both motorcyclist and pillion rider died on spot. They were identified as Sanju Mashi, 18, S/o Pinka R/o Rajiv Colony Bari Brahmana and Rahul Manhas , 16, S/o Suresh Manhas of Lane No 4 Bari Brahmana. The dead bodies were shifted to mortuary of GMC for postmortem.
The driver of the truck namely Daljeet Singh , S/o Kanhiya Singh of Parkh Tehsil Pouni in Reasi district was arrested by the police and truck has been seized. The Bari Brahmana police has registered a case under FIR number 102/2016 under Section 279/304 A RPC.
In another accident a pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a rashly driven motor cycle bearing number JK21A-1213 at NH near Patli Morh Bari Brahmana today.
He has been identified as Puran Chand of Nazwal Bishnah. He was shifted to GMC by police for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist fled after accident. The Bari Brahmana Police has registered a case FIR Number 101/2016 U/S 279/337 RPC. The dead body has been kept in GMC mortuary and the police has launched a manhunt to arrest the motorcyclist.
One person died while nine others were injured including a motorcyclist after a matador hit the motorcycle first and then rolled down on the road at Chadwal on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Kathua today.
According to police a matador bearing number JK014-7919 which was on its way from Chadwal to Buwai hit a motorcycle bearing number JK08A-9741 first and then rolled down on the road. The motorcyclist received grievous injuries while one passenger who was traveling in the matador died on spot. He has been identified as Rafiq Ahmed, 25, S/o Yousf Gojar of Majalta.
Eight other passengers were also injured. Out of the eight injured Raghubir Singh who had received grievous injuries and motorcyclist Ashok Kumar were referred to GMC Jammu for treatment while seven were admitted in SDH Hiranagar for treatment.
Chadwal Police has registered a case under Section 304 but the driver of the vehicle fled after the accident.
A jawan of 158 Territorial Army who was hit by an unknown vehicle late last night while he was on his way to his residence at Barnoti near here succumbed to his injuries at Pathankot Military Hospital this morning. He was identified as Karan Singh, S/o Preetam Singh of Flot, Kathua. He was taken to DH Kathua where from army shifted him to Military Hospital Pathankot where he succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by an unknown vehicle near Beni bridge in Billawar . She was referred to GMC Jammu in a serious condition. The woman has been identified as Neelam Kumari W/o Ajit Kumar. The Billawar Police has registered a case and started investigation.
