Five arrested with banned forest product

JAMMU, Aug 24: Gandhi Nagar police arrested five persons along with banned forest product.
As per police sources, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka at Satwari and signaled a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK02BQ-2391.
During checking, police recovered 80 kilograms of banned forest product Dermia Indica (Jungli Lahsun) and arrested five persons including driver.
The persons, who have been identified as Baba Ram (driver), son of Buti Ram of Padori Bishnah, Pan Raj, son of Nath Ram, Bhim Singh, son of Shonkey Lal, Beli Ram, son of Bhim Sain and Sonam Tanzen, son of Tsering Sonam, all residents of District Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 197/16 under Section 3/13/16/39 Forest Act 1987 has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention that the banned material has great medicinal value and having market value approximately Rs 7 lakh.
Police team led by SI Madan Lal from Gandhi Nagar police station made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
