SRINAGAR: A soldier was injured, when a group of infiltrators attacked troops the guarding Line of Control (LoC) in the north Kashmir district of Kupwara.
A Defence ministry Spokesman Colonel N N Joshi said that troops guarding LoC noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side at Tangdhar sector in the frontier district of Kupwara under the cover of darkness early this morning.
When challenged and asked to surrender, the militants opened fire, he said, adding that a soldier was hit and injured. Troops also retaliated, but the militants had managed to escape back into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).
Later, searches were conducted in the entire forest area, he said, adding that the operation is almost over. On August 21, three infiltrators were killed in Tanghdar sector by security forces. (AGENCIES)
