JAMMU, Aug 27: An Inter House Hindi Role Play (Kavi Aur Unki Rachnaye) Competition was held for the students of the middle school (VI, VII and VIII) at GD Goenka Public School.
It was a visual treat to witness the youngsters dressed as various Indian Poets. Sri Rabindranath Tagore was represented by Tagore House who recited the poem, “Yadi Sun Kar Meri Pukar” and “Mera Sheesh Nav Do Aapne Charan Dhool Ke Tal Mein”.
Similarly, Sri Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s Hindi poem, “Lo Din Beeta”, Lo Raat Huyee’ and “Jisse Mile Mujhse Milaye’ were recited by Vivekananda House.
Teresa House recited the poems penned down by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan. They were “Jhansi Ki Rani” and Khilone Vaala’, “Uski Vikalpta’ and “Vande Mataram” by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee were recited by the participants of Radhakrishnan House.
It was extremely impressive to see students deliver and execute their Hindi poems with as much fervour as an English one.
This activity was conducted with the view to create awareness about our great Indian poets, their birth, their struggles during imperialism, their victory, their poems and its meaning.
Since it was an Inter House Competition, one could easily sense and feel the spirit of being competitive.
Eventually, it was Tagore House which stole the show and emerged victorious. They were closely followed by Radhakrishnan House. Vivekananda and Teresa had to settle for a tie for the third position
The participants were judged on the basis of voice modulation, intonation, pronunciation, expression and body language.
The activity was conducted by the students of class VI under the supervision of Mamta Agarwal, Academic Co-ordinator and Vijay Dhar.
Principal, Rajesh Rathore in his address expressed his vision to see more youngsters having similar creative instincts that voice the greatness about their motherland.
