Garhi Club lifts Invitational Volleyball Championship title

JAMMU, Aug 31: Garhi Club routed Charyai Club by 3-1 and lifted the title trophy of the Invitational Volleyball Championship, organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra in the synthetic flood light Court.
Spikers Chander and Vivek helped the Garhi Club to maintain marginal lead in three sets whileas in the fourth set, both helped their team to win the title. Aaquib and Dinesh helped Charyai Club to win one set. The final score remained 17-25, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-22.
Dr MK Kumar, Additional CEO, SMVDSB was the chief guest, while Dr Arvind Karwani was the guest of honour.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports gave resume of various activities organised by the Shrine Board and also highlighted the forthcoming events which include open Invitational Kabaddi Championship, holding of rural festival and conduct of National Sports Talent Contest to select the outstanding lot amongst the most younger players.
Among others who were present on the occasion were PC Tanoch, Xen, Sanjeev Kotwal, Deputy Manager, Sourab Khajuria, Som Raj Sharma, Manager Garhi Team and Shashi Sharma, Coach-cum-Manager Charyai Club.
Later, the chief guest presented the winner and runner-up trophies to Captains of Garhi and Charyai Clubs respectively. Prizes were also distributed among the players of both the teams.
The match was officiated by qualified umpires Manik Nagotra (VFI) and Kuldip Sharma.
