Akhil to lock horns with Pankaj in Sub Junior District Snooker C’ship final today

JAMMU, Aug 31: Akhil Gupta will lock horns with Pankaj in the summit clash of the Sub Junior District Snooker Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here tomorrow.
Earlier in the first semis, Akhil Gupta beat Abhik Bhat by straight 2-0 frames (59-32 and 62-26), whereas in the second semifinal, Pankaj defeated Sanand Sharma by 2-1 frames. The first frame was won by Sanand by 57-48 and the game was equalized by Pankaj by winning the second frame by 55-17. In the third and decider frame, Pankaj registered win over Sanand by 57-7.
Meanwhile, Arjun Singh and Basit Wani entered into the semis of the District Junior Snooker Championship, being organized by JKBSA at same venue.
In the first quarterfinal match, Arjun Singh defeated Samarth Amla by straight 2-0 frames. In the first frame, Arjun registered win over Samarth by 63-24 and continued the winning pace in the second frame and won it by 66-45.
In the second quarterfinal match, Basit Wani smashed Varun Kumar by 2-0 frames. Basit won the first frame by 69-20 and also registered win in the second frame by 47-34.
According to JKBSA spokesperson, Senior Snooker Championship will be played from tomorrow.
