MLC reviews PMAY in Rajouri

JAMMU, Aug 31:  While reviewing the implementation of  Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna in Rajouri town, Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta today called for ensuring complete transparency in selection of beneficiaries so that needy ones are provided benefit of this scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The MLC reviewed the implementation of PMAY at  district headquarters Rajouri in which senior officers of Municipal Committee and officials connected in PMAY were present. He also  took stock of a list of 250 beneficiaries prepared by concerned department who will be provided assistance to build their houses.
Mr Gupta said in pursuance of this commitment,  the Prime Minister Narender Modi has been holding a series of meetings to give shape to this dream and commitment. The programme proposes to built two crore houses nationwide and in   Jammu & Kashmir,  25 towns have been selected for this project. This would cover both the slum housing and affordable housing for the weaker sections. It will cover Urban poor living in Kuccha houses, slums, urban residents who are homeless and new migrants to the urban area in search of shelter.
Gupta directed the concerned officers to include only those families which are genuine and entitled for the benefit.  People  who are homeless and in real need of help should be included. He also laid thrust on adopting hassle free procedure for sponsoring the cases by respective municipalities so that maximum beneficiaries can avail the benefit of the scheme.
Terming transparency as a  basic and need of proper implementation of any Government scheme, MLC said that dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide home to every homeless family can only be achieved if PMAY is implemented without any political interference and in a transparent manner.
Under PMAY  Rs 1.5 lakh will be provided to every homeless family for building their own house while a person can also avail loan to the cost of Rs 6 lakh  to build house and on meagre interest rate.
