Poverty drives father of six to commit suicide

UDHAMPUR, Sept 4: Extreme poverty drove a father of six children to commit suicide at village Chapper in tehsil Latti.
The deceased was identified as 34 years old Yash Pal, son of Mulkh Raj, resident of village Chapper. He consumed some poisonous substance at his residence last night. The family members noticed him in serious condition and vomiting. With the help of neighbours, they rushed him to the Primary Health Center (PHC) Latti where doctors washed his stomach. However, he did not respond to the treatment and died after some time.
Even as there was no suicide note, the villagers said that the deceased was a poor farmer and he was unable to feed his family, comprising three sons and three daughters, all minors.
Police has registered a case in this connection under Section 174 of RPC for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a young man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his house. The deceased was identified as Amar Nath of Sayal Salan.
