Inter-College Declamation Contest organized

Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik lighting ceremonial lamp during Inter-College Declamation Contest GCW Gandhi Nagar on Saturday.

JAMMU, Sept 29: Preliminary Round of 3rd Annual Inter-Collegiate (Northern Zone) Declamation Contest for Silver Rolling Trophy instituted by Governor NN Vohra, was organized by the Department of Higher Education at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The programme commenced with lighting of the traditional lamp, which was followed by Saraswati Vandana.
Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment was the chief guest on the inaugural function, while Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries, jury members and principals of the various Degree Colleges on the occasion.
While addressing the audience in Dogri, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Higher Education apreciated the initiatives taken by the Governor which has provided the students valuable platform for sharing views, transmitting knowledge and displaying talent.
In the valedictory  function, Raman Bhalla, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation was the chief guest.
Kiran Bakshi presented the welcome address, while Dr Vandana Sharma, Director School of Language and Literature, SMVDU, Dr Anil Tiwari, Department of Philosophy SMVDU and Dr Hardeep Chahal, PG Department of Commerce, University of Jammu were the jury members who evaluated the performance of the participants.
Six students were selected for the final round of North Zone Inter-State Declamation Contest which will be held in the first week of November, 2012.
Meanwhile, the first prize was clinched by Polina Singh of GCW, Gandhi Nagar, second prize was won by Anshul Gupta of Govt MAM College, Jammu and the third prize went to Abhinandan Singh of GCET, Jammu.The consolation prizes were given to Shivangi Sharma, GDC Akhnoor, Rinku Kumar, GGM Science College, Jammu and Ghulam Mustafa, GDC Poonch.
