JAMMU, Sept 20: The Art of Living (AoL), Jammu chapter organized 3-day long workshop on ‘Organic Home Farming & Gardening Techniques’.
The course was conducted by National Agriculture Teacher, Bela Golwala from The Art of Living International Centre and Ashram at Bangalore.
The course included extensive theory and practical training of growing organic vegetables in one’s Kitchen garden, balcony or terrace. The various techniques of making pesticides and fertilizers were taught and the main ingredient of these fertilizers and pesticides was cow dung and cow urine.
Emphasis was laid on zero budget home gardening and practical training of growing organic vegetables on terrace, kitchen or balcony. Bela Golwala also guided the participants about how to protect plants from virus, fungi and insects.
Further procedure to make pesticides like Brahastra, Nimastra and Agniastra by using cow urine and cow dung, was taught. Different cropping pattern Like mixed cropping, multi cropping, relay cropping, trap cropping, growing creepers were also taught.
The course was attended by a large number of people including teachers and volunteers of AoL Centre, Gian Shalla, Gandhi Nagar.
