UDHAMPUR, Sept 20: The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote conducted a ‘Driving Cadre’ for women emboldening them with ‘Driving Skills’ in Light Motor Vehicles.
25 women from the villages of Kotranka, Samote, Budhal and adjoining villages attended the month long cadre under the flagship programme of Operation Sadbhavna.
Trained instructors conducted classes on the theoretical and practical aspects of driving during the period.
The Army has instituted various courses and cadres in the remote regions towards ‘Women Empowerment’.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the Army for the conduct of the cadre which has helped reduce their dependency on the male members or private transport.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sarpanch of village Samote said that courses and cadres by Army, especially for the women, are a big step towards the socio economic development of the region. Courses by the Army, especially those emphasizing education and skills such as driving and other professional courses, will help the women in realizing their true potential.
