JAMMU, Sept 20: Law Department registered 19 runs win over Political Science Department in the nail biting summit clash and lifted the title of the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament for Men, organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, at Varsity ground, here today.
Batting first, Law Department set a target of 112 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 15 overs. Gokul Baru was the top scorer with 34 runs off 25 balls including four boundaries, while Paras Sharma scored 33 runs off 16 balls with the help of three boundaries and one six. Arun Singh made 21 runs.
From Political Science Department side, Zain and Shakeel scalped one wicket apiece.
In reply, Political Science Department failed to chase the target and bundled out at 93 runs by losing all wickets in 15 overs.
From Law Department side, Jyoti and Vikran Singh took 2 wickets each, while Arun Singh, Soumya, Ajesh and Paras scalped one wicket apiece.
On the valedictory function, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, was the chief guest, who awarded the winner and runner-up teams in presence of Seema Nargotra from Department of Law, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Gagan Kumar and Jai Bharat.
The final match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Vijay Dogra as umpires, while Raj Kumar Bakshi maintained the scorecard.
