New Delhi, Sept 22: A delegation of J&K ReT (Rehbar-e-Taleem) Teachers’ Forum and their relatives led by the Forum President Vinod Sharma and Chief Coordinator Sukhdev Singh today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and sought his intervention for release of their pending arrears.
The members of delegation expressed profuse gratitude to Dr Jitendra Singh for his earlier intervention as a result of which, they had been paid their salary dues that had been pending for a long time. They said, they were once again approaching him for the release of the remaining arrears because they have the confidence that he could successfully help them in this regard.
In a memorandum submitted to Dr Jitendra Singh, the members of ReT Forum pointed out that the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) had released Rs.832.75 crore  under “Sarva Shiskhsa Abhiyan” (SSA) out of the total approved plan and subsequently an amount of Rs. 52.75 crore was also released. They requested the Minister’s intervention to secure the release of balance share of over Rs 900 crore to Rs. 1200 crore, so that the balance salary of the teachers could also be paid.
Dr Jitendra Singh immediately sought the status from the Union Ministry of HRD and was informed that even though a request for release of further funds had been received from the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, a formal Audit Report was still awaited. Dr Jitendra Singh then called up J&K Education Minister Naeem Akhtar  and brought to his notice the issue of pending Audit Report, to which the J&K Education Minister assured that he would follow it up with his staff.
Dr Jitendra Singh also forwarded the representation submitted by the ReT Teachers’ Forum to the Union HRD Ministry and advised the members of delegation to follow up the issue at the State Government level for the early dispatch of audit papers.
Expressing full sympathies with the ReT Teachers, Dr Jitendra Singh said, if we sincerely consider a teacher to be the architect of future India and next generation of citizens, then we cannot leave him in a state of grievance and disillusionment which causes distraction and lack of enthusiasm in his noble task of teaching.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured the members of delegation that he would follow up the issue both at the Union HRD Ministry level as well as the J&K State Government level and hoped that just as their earlier salary arrears had been successfully secured, the remaining arrears would also get released soon.
