JAMMU, Oct 6: Cueists displayed exemplary skills in the league matches of the 1st J&K State Six Red Ball Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA), at billiards hall, MA Stadium, here today.
During league matches, the players who registered win were in great confidence to win the next match and to qualify in the knockout round but the players who lost the first league match did not lose confidence as they have another chance to mark a win.
In the first league match, Vidit Gawri beat Nikhil Verma by 3-1. Vidit won the first frame by 44-10. He continued the winning pace and won the second frame by 35-25. Nikil made a comeback by winning the third frame by 22-21, but lost the decider frame to Vidit by 34-20.
Abhishek Pathania crushed Manik Sharma by 3-1 in the second league match. Abhishek registered win in the first frame by 33-18 and the game was equalized by Manik after winning the second frame by 34-31. Abhishek won the third and fourth frames by 44-01 and 29-16 to enter into the next stage.
In the third match played between Abid Bhutt and Ansh Chopra, the former registered win by 3-2. Abid registered win over Ansh Chopra by 33-0 in the first frame and the game was equalized by Ansh by winning the second frame by 29-27. Ansh won the third frame by 28-22 and raised the lead, but Abid bounced back and won the fourth frame by 42-05. In the decider frame, Abid registered win by 53-16.
Ishuk Chowdhary beat Ananya Mahajan in the fourth league match by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 33-16, 53-25 and 37-22, whereas in the fifth league match, Sunraj Singh defeated Rahul Datta by 3-1 and the score was 45-32, 37-21, 25-28 and 32-24.
In the sixth league match, Mahipal Singh crushed Rudar Gupta by 3-2. Rudar registered win over Mahipal by 31-17 in the first frame and the game was equalized by Mahipal after winning the second frame by 44-07. Rudra won the third frame by 29-26 and raised the lead, but Mahipal bounced back and won the fourth frame by 53-29. In the decider frame, Mahipal registered win by 34-23.
Vishal Abrol registered win over Varun Sharma by 3-1 seventh league match. Varun won the first frame by 25-15 and Vishal equalized the game by winning the second frame by 38-17. Vishal continued the winning pace and won the third and fourth frames by 42-27 and 52-17 respectively.
In the eighth league match, Visit Gawri outplayed Sam by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 41-01, 37-01 and 63-16, whereas Jaideep Manocha registered win over Ishan Singh in the ninth league match by 3-0 frames and the score remained 35-01, 38-09 and 45-18.
Akshay beat Umar Sadeeq in the tenth league match by 3-2. Akshay registered win over Umar by 33-24 in the first frame and won the second frame too by 41-14. Umar made a comeback and equalized the game by winning the third and fourth frames by 32-14 and 31-07 respectively. In the decider frame, Akshay registered win by 37-20 and sailed into the next stage of the Championship.
In the eleventh league match, Mudasir Ashiq outclassed Shubam Dubey by 3-1 with the score of 38-13, 46-08, 26-41 and 56-01.
The matches were being held under strict supervision of the JKBSA members and played with the rules and regulations of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
Rakesh Sharma acted as marker of the tournament.
