JAMMU, Oct 1: Title contenders Ishuk Chowdhary, Kuldeep Sharma, Sohail Khalid and Sumesh Turki today entered the quarterfinals in Senior Snooker event of the ongoing Jammu District Open Junior and Senior Snooker Championship, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
In the first pre-quarterfinal match played in the evening session today, Ishuk Chowdhary blanked Ankush Dogra 3-0 by (78-31, 65-31, 76-31), while in other pre-quarterfinal match, Kuldeep Sharma drubbed Himanshu Phaul 3-0 (62-27, 42-09, 77-38).
Sohail Khalid also scripted 3-0 victory over Sourav Dogra by (66-33, 78-08, 58-29), while Sumesh Turki registered a narrow win over almost equally strong Ankit Gupta 3-2 by (53-15, 45-59, 41-49, 62-28, 57-30).
Earlier, in the remaining second round matches, Mukesh Kapahi thrashed Sachin Bamba 3-0 by (70-62, 56-26, 48-37), Vishal Abrol trounced Kashif Ahmed 3-2 by (72-25, 68-02, 45-66, 44-47, 50-37), Abhimanyu Arora got better of Dheeraj Goswami 3-2 by ( 46-48, 49-63, 61-38, 69-18, 66-65), Sahil kapadia prevailed upon Amarjeet Singh 3-1 by (32-68, 49-21, 47-40, 66-04) and Ishan chowdhary blanked Sidharath Bhatia 3-0 by (70-35, 45-25, 37-23).
