Around two dozen cueists qualify league matches to enter next round

JAMMU, Oct 11: Around two dozen cueists advanced to the next round after qualifying the league matches in the ongoing 1st J&K State Open Six Red Ball Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, entered Day-5, here today.
The cueists, who qualified for the next stage are Abhishek Pathania, Vidit Gawri, Ishuk Chowdhary, Adnan Lone, Jaideep Manocha, Vishal Abrol, Nikhil Kapahi, Abid Bhutt, Younis Kuchey, Mudasir Ashiq, Stabdan, Ishan Chowdhary, Nitin Sharma, Abhishek Goswami, Ankit Gupta, Vipan Malhi, Rohit Sharma, Maqudar Sawhney, Satypreet, Furkan Wani, Avish Sharma, Sahil Arora and Arjun Singh.
Earlier in the first league match of the day, Nitin Sharma beat Kashif by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 52-26, 33-09 and 41-29.
In the second match, Maqudar Sawhney registered win over Basit Wani by 3-2 frames. Maqudar won the first frame by 45-17 and registered win in the second frame by 31-18. Basit bounced back and won the third and fourth frames by 31-22 and 30-14 to equalize the game. In the decider frame, Maqudar registered win by 37-23.
Abhishek Goswami crushed Rahul Dutta by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 29-26, 28-19 and 37-13 in the third match, whereas in the fourth match, Avish Sharma beat Ishan Khajuria by 3-1 with the score of 33-12, 49-16, 35-42 and 45-17.
In the fifth match, Rajat Khanna registered win over Rohit Chib by 3-2 and the score was 42-13, 08-39, 35-43, 36-22 and 37-01 and in the sixth match, Ankit got walkover against Gagandeep Singh.
In the seventh match, Furkan Wani outplayed Sachin Sharma by 3-2. Sachin made a good start by winning the first frame by 36-08, but the game was equalized by Furkan by winning the second frame by 24-13. The third frame was won by Sachin by 40-28 and Furkan again equalized the game by registering win in the fourth frame by 35-23. In the decider frame, Furkan registered win over Sachin by 36-20.
The matches were being held under strict supervision of the JKBSA members and played with the rules and regulations of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
Rakesh Sharma acted as marker of the tournament.
