Wheat edges up on scattered buying

NEW DELHI, Oct 12:  Wheat prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following mild demand from flour mills.

However, maize and barley ended lower on reduced offtake by consuming industries.

Traders attributed the rise in wheat prices to some buying support from flour mills.

They said, however, reduced offtake by consuming industries kept pressure on maize and barley prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) moved up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,820-1,825 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,825-1,830 per 90 kg.
