Brahman Maha Mandal holds cultural programme

JAMMU, Oct 17: Brahman Maha Mandal J&K organized a cultural programme at K L Saigal Hall here today in the memory of Shiv Ji Zaroo.
The programme included Kashmiri speaking contest among the budding youth of KP community. The contest was held to encourage the budding youth of the community to regain their identity as during last over 27 years of exile the community youth are feeling that they are going away from their roots which can pose a threat to their identity.
The community is of the view that the language is most impressible component of the cultural identity which has started eroding after the mass exodus of the community.
The contest was divided into three age groups of four to seven years, seven to 11 years and 11 to 15 years.
The eminent panel of judges included P N Shad, a well known writer, Ms Santosh Shah Nadan, a renowned poetess, Dr Ramesh Bhat, a scholar, M L Saraf and Rajinder Tickoo. Eminent Music composer Kishan Ji Langoo was also honoured on the occasion for his invariable contribution to music world.
