JAMMU, Oct 18: The Day 5 of School Olympics was marked by the commencement of Girls’ Athletics events at BSF Campus Paloura, where finals of Javelin Throw, High Jump and 800 meters were conducted.
It was, however, an action packed day at KK Hakku Stadium where finals of girls’ and boys’ Hockey were played.
SOS Hermann School defeated APS Akhnoor in a thrilling match to win Gold in girls’ Hockey. The match got decided in penalty shoot out. Presentation Convent won Bronze in the said event.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest at the medal ceremony who gave away the medals to the victorious teams.
In boys’ Hockey, APS Miran Sahib crushed title favourates Sainik School Nagrota in closely contested match to win the Gold. The match was won by APS Miran Sahib by 1-0 in sudden death.
Member Parliament (MP) Rajya Sabha, SS Manhas was the chief guest who gave away the medals to the victorious team.
In Athletics, Samiksha Manhas of GHSS Canal Road won Gold in High Jump with a jump 1.22 meters. Khyati Gupta of Presentation Convent won Gold in Javelin Throw. In 800 meters, Shiksha Sharma of GHSS Channi Himmat won Gold.
In boys’ Volleyball, Sainik School Nagrota defeated JSK HSS Jourian in straight games to enter final. In second semifinal, GHSS Jourian outplayed GHSS Sunjwan in a nail biting match to enter final.
In boys’ Football, quarterfinals were played at Science College grounds. Quarterfinals were also held in boys’ Kabbadi at MA Stadium.
In boys’ Basketball, APS Kaluchak will take on APS Ratnuchak in the final tomorrow. Earlier, in the first semis, APS Kaluchak defeated APS Jammu Cantt, whereas in the second semifinal, APS Ratnuchak crushed MHAC Nagbani.
