JAMMU, Oct 2: Police today arrested three bovine smugglers and rescued 22 milch animals from their possession.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Banihal Police station laid a naka and intercepted a Srinagar bound Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AH-1386.
During checking, police recovered four bovine animals and arrested the smuggler Abdul Hamid, son of Alam Din Gujjar of Kanga, Ramban, spokesman added.
A case under FIR number 166/12 under Sections 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal.
In another incident, Police party from Batote laid a naka and arrested one person namely Zahoor Ahmed, son of Rashid Ahmed of Magraypur along with three bovine animals, which he was carrying towards valley on foot.
A case under FIR number 114/12 has been registered at Police Station Batote.
Meanwhile, on specific inputs, Domana police laid a naka at Gol Gujral and intercepted a truck. The driver speed up the vehicle and after a hot chase, the truck was intercepted near Nandini.
Out of three bovine smugglers, one Mohd Sadiq, son of Mohd Rashid of Gujjar Basti, Belicharana was arrested. During checking of the vehicle, police recovered 15 milch animals.
A case has been registered at Police Station Domana and manhunt was on to nab the two bovine smugglers, who fled from the spot.
