DDC tours Dessa, takes stock of people’s problems

DODA, Oct 3: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Doda, Farooq Ahmed Khan today visited Gai/Dessa and convened a public meeting   to listen and redress the grievances  of the people.
The DDC was accompanied by Chief Planning  Officer, Doda Yasir Balwan, XEn PHE Doda G.M, DIC D.S Katoch, District Social Welfare Officer Doda Rakesh Kumar, A.D Handicrafts Garbi Rashid, BDO Bhagwah various other district and sectoral officers.
People of the area projected various demands and grievances  including,  all weather connectivity through Bhagwah-Dessa road, food store godown at Dessa with stocking capacity for full winter, appointment of  adequate staff at Government Higher Secondary School  Dessa, opening of PHC, adequate transport facility for the area, repair of school buildings damaged due to snowfall,   posting doctors in PHC, repair of various water supply schemes, replacement of old rotten poles and provision of electricity to unelectrified areas.
People of the area also demanded benefits under various Centrally sponsored schemes like SGSY, IAY, BRGF, PMEGP, besides implementation of schemes of handloom, agriculture, horticulture and Handicraft Departments.
The people also demanded further streamlining of  ration supply, issuance of BPL, Antodaya cards, timely start of works under MGNREGA to ensure timely completion, timely vaccination of animals, construction of forest Dak Bunglow, besides a number of other demands.
The DDC gave a patient hearing and assured the people   that their genuine demands would be looked into and taken up with the higher authorities.
He gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers to note the demands and grievances of the people and take necessary steps immediately for early redressal of the same. He also directed the officers of various departments to organise awareness camps in remote and inaccessible areas to make people aware about various Centrally and State Government sponsored schemes so that people could avail the benefits.  The DDC also asked the local Sarpanchs and Panchs to participate in developmental process by keeping eye on various developmental works going on in their respective Panchayats and give feed back to the administration.
