JAMMU, Oct 3: Various educational institutions paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
Government Degree College, Paloura celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with patriotic fervour and zeal. Floral tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi by the Principal, staff members and students. A symposium on the theme “The Teachings of Gandhi” was held in which students participated actively. Shamir, Abhilash and Bhuvesh Gupta were adjudged as first, second and third respectively.
Government Post Graduate College of Education, Canal Road, observed the “International day of Non- Violence” on the eve of birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. A symposium was organised in which NSS volunteers expressed their view on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and threw light on the relevance of Non Violence in this present era. Prof Koushal Samotra, Principal of the college, highlighted the importance of Truth and Non-violence.
Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great pomp and show. On the occasion, bhajan were sung by the group of NSS volunteers, followed by speeches on the life and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Principal of the college Dr Ram Krishan, in his speech stressed upon the audience especially the youth to understand the Gandhian philosophy and practice it in their life. The NSS Programme Officer Prof Rachna also enlightened the audience about the life, thought and Gandhian Philosophy.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated in KNIT Green Model Academy, GS Pura, Sangrampur. On the occasion, cleanliness drive was launched. Principal Komal Kotwal and staff members highlighted the life long achievements of Gandhi ji and exhorted upon the students to follow his teachings in life.
Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated with great pomp and show in the premises of NITL Higher Secondary School, Udhampur.
On the occasion, Nittin Deshpandy, Branch head, IDBI Bank, Udhampur, was chief guest, while, Principal Ajay Gupta was also present. A symposium was organized on the topic ‘Contribution of Ahimsa in Today’s Life’. Akhilesh of class 8th, Anil Dev of class 9th and Iffat Naaz of class 10th were adjudged as first, second and third respectively.
