JAMMU Oct 26: International Centre for Cross- Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM) today organized Cultural Heritage Walk to Mubarak Mandi Complex for the students of MBA: International Business (MBA-IB), Semester I and III.
Kirpal Singh, Curator, Dogra Art Museum, Mubarak Mandi, guided the students through the walk to the interiors of Mubarak Mandi buildings complex and shared with the students the archaeological and historical significance of the rich Dogra culture, dating back to 1824. Singh enrouted the students to the several courtyards, buildings within the Palace such as the Darbar Hall complex, the Pink Palace, Royal Courts buildings, Gol Ghar complex, Nawa Mahal, Rani Charak Palace, Hawa Mahal, Toshakhana Palace, Sheesh Mahal and Hawa Mahal.
The students also visited Dogra Art Museum within the ‘Pink Hall’ where they were acquainted with the rich heritage collection of old miniature paintings and other artifacts of historical significance depicting the richness of Dogra culture .
Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director of ICccR & HRM, and other faculty members accompanied the students for the visit. While interacting with students on spot, Prof Rohmetra said that cultural and heritage orientation is one of the major initiatives of ICccR and HRM to train students to blend business with social, historical and indigenous perspectives.
Later, the students walked from Panjtirthi, Mubarak Mandi to Jain Bazar through the narrow lanes and old streets of ‘Pacci Dhaki’ and ‘Jullaka Mohalla’ to capture the glimpse of the lifestyle and the terrain of old Jammu city.

Meanwhile, ICccR & HRM in JU also organized an interactive session on
‘Challenges and Opportunities in International Business’, during which Sahil Mahajan, Alumnus, The American Graduate School of International Management, Glendale Arizona, USA (presently, Proprietor, Pace Hyundai, Jammu) interacted with the MBA (IB) and PGDCCM students of ICccR & HRM.
Sahil Mahajan, provided the students with a complete picture of the global business world functioning. He reflected that in order to take advantage of the opportunities of doing business internationally, businesses need to understand the complexities to maximise efficiency and maintain their competitive edge. He painted the picture of India in relation to its scaling growth, development and economy. He also added that while international business expansion presents many opportunities, there is a myriad of challenges that companies face when deciding to operate on an international scale, which may include cross country issues, currency (financial risks) and commercial risks. He cited several examples of US, Japan, China, UAE, India and many others to establish a connect between their knowledge base and real world business situations.
Sahil Mahajan shared his personal experiences and advised the students to acknowledge cultural diversity to be successful in the international business world.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Neelu Rohmetra emphasized upon the need for such interaction for appropriate mentorship, training and creation of knowledge base to enable development of professionalism in management students.
