Capt Gandharb Singh Manhas’s statue unveiled

JAMMU, Oct 29: On the occasion of 69th Martyrs Day of Captain Gandharb Singh Manhas, his statute was unveiled in village Pargwal.
The unveiling was done by Captain Yudhvir Singh in the presence of family members and people from all walks of life.
Captain Yudhvir Singh gave a very motivating speech for the young generation of today and how they should take inspiration from patriots like Capt Gandharb Singh Manhas, who had fought the enemies with immense bravery. It is because of patriots like him that village Pargwal is breathing, he added.
The audience was further motivated by Colonel Rajinder Singh, who spoke about the hardships and sacrifices of the people in the forces and their families. He also emphasised on the fact that besides our national freedom fighters, our children should also know about local heroes who have brought laurels to our village. Often the local freedom fighters are over looked for lack of information, he said, adding that events like these educate the local population of the sacrifices made by the sons of the soil.
There was a beautiful recital dedicated to Captain Gandharb Singh by Sansaar. Manvi Jamwal recited a beautiful poem composed by Captain Gandharb Singh Manhas himself.
Lambardar of Pargwal Rajinder Singh also spoke on the occasion highlighting the achievements of Captain Gandharb Singh.
