Educational Institutions celebrate National Education Day, Children’s Day with fervour

JAMMU, Nov 11: Various Educational Institutions celebrated the National Education Day and the Children’s Day with enthusiasm and fervour, here today.
To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent India, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu celebrated ‘National Education Day’ today by organising a Slogan Writing Competition on the topic ‘Importance of Education’. Around 20 students from different departments of the University of Jammu participated in this event. Sunakshi Ganotra from the Department of Education stood First, Neha Bajal from the Department of Home Science stood Second and Hemant Magotra from the Department of Commerce stood Third. The event was judged by Dr. Anupama Vohra and Dr. Sanjay Sharma. Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Satnam Kour congratulated the students who participated in this event and exhibited their creativity on such an important topic. She also stressed upon the importance of this day. The event was coordinated by Ms. Ifra Kak and Mr. Sumeet Sharma.
The Department of Home Science (Human Develop-ment), University of Jammu, organized a poster making and slogan writing competition on the occasion of National Education Day today. The theme of the competition was ‘Overcoming Under Development: Reaching the un-reached.’ Speaking on the relevance of the programme, Prof. Neeru Sharma, HoD, Home Science elaborated that 11th November marks the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a great freedom fighter, educationist and the first Union Education Minister of Education. The day is celebrated across the entire country as National Education Day. Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Dean, Faculty of Science was the chief guest on the occasion. She expressed happiness on selection of such a relevant theme. Prof. Dhingra while addressing the gathering remarked that benefits of education and development should reach all segments of the society. Equitable and inclusive social order can pave the way for national development. The event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Samridhi Arora, Associate Prof and Dr Sarika Manhas Assistant Prof. of Department of Home Science, University of Jammu.
GGM Science College Jammu celebrated National Education Day in the College. On the occasion a Seminar in Mathematics on “Life Histories of India Mathematicians and their contribution in the Development of Mathematics” was organized by Department of Mathematics, GGM Science College, Jammu. The inaugural function was attended by the Principal Prof (Dr.) Ajeet Angral, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Dr. R.S. Pathania, Dr. J.L Sharma, Dr. Shally Gupta, Prof. Kanchan Kohli, Prof. Sanjeev Verma, Prof. N.K. Dhar & Prof. Raju and students. The programme was compared by Prof. Kanchan Kohli. Prof. D.K. Raina, HoD Mathematics presented welcome address followed by the address of Dr. Nariender Sharma, Organizing Secretary, who throws some light on the main theme of the seminar.
The IQAC of Govt. MAM College Jammu organized an intra college poetry competition to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in which students from different streams participated and recited poetry on different topics. The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The Principal of the college welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of the event as the institution is named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the erstwhile first Education Minister of India. Dr. Raj Kumar HoD Hindi Central University of Jammu lauded the efforts of the college management in organizing such a meaningful academic programme, while Prof. Sujat Khan, Convener, IQAC introduced the contest and welcomed the guests and participants. Dr. Renu Nanda, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan and Prof Savita Jamwal were the Jury members.
Army Public School, Dhar Road Udhampur, celebrated National education Day and the Children’s Day with great enthusiasm. Principal, Ramma Raina inaugurated the event through lighting of traditional lamp. Teachers presented medley song which suggested students to adopt healthy life-style. This followed with a mime act which displayed the importance of perseverance even during failures.The celebrations ended with the National Anthem and vote of thanks presented by Head Girl, Mrinali.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sunjuwan celebrated Children’s Day to pay homage to architect of modern India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. A Quiz Competition was organized under the innovative and inspiring guidance of the Principal Manish Tuli ,who was also the chief guest of the occasion. Meera Mahajan was the Quiz Master.
On the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti which is celebrated as birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and also the most awaited day for the children (Children’s Day), Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu organized a special assembly in the school. Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice – Chairperson app raised the students about the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. She also talked about Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and the reason behind Children’s Day celebration.
KV No-1 Jammu organized Folk Dance Competition on the eve of Children’s Day. Nine Kendriya Vidyalayas participated in it. TR Choudhary, Principal of the School was the chief guest on the occasion. A tough competition took place in which KV Nagrota got first position, KV No.1 Jammu & KV Sunjuwan bagged second position and KV Samba got third position in the competition. The Programme was well organized and coordinated by Yogesh Katyal , coordinator.
National Education Day was celebrated at MHAC Nagbani through an effective role play conveying the message of Right to Education. Around 35 students presented a play in three phases depicting different ways which can help educating everyone in the country. Principal Sween Puri appreciated the effort of students.
The school playground of Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua was filled with great zeal and excitement as the school celebrated Children’s Day and sports extravaganza. The eminent guests were RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh, Kamaljeet Kour and Sonakshi. The chairperson of the school, Harpreet Singh, Principal Shuchita Gupta, Administrator Govindram Sharma also graced the occasion. The students presented themselves with the spectacular, impressive and synchronized march past and mass PT (house wise).
NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organized symposium on the occasion of National Education Day today in the Conference Hall. The topic of the symposium was “Importance of Education in 21st Century” wherein 18 NSS Volunteers participated.
Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Kr Samar Dev Singh Charak was the chief guest who inaugurated the function by lighting of traditional lamp.The welcome address was presented by NSS Programme officer, Nishu Saproo. Bela Thakur, Director Academics Dogra Educational Trust, presided over the function. Shefali Sharma, Principal of the college in her key note address to the NSS Volunteers expressed her concern regarding the importance of education in 21st century.
Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a special assembly to celebrate Gurupurab and Children’s Day. Welcoming the gathering, Keran VI-C and Anshul Desai VI-C of Jhelum House enlightened the students about the saintly qualities of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of Sikhs. They also expressed their deep reverence for Pt. Jawarahar Lal Nehru, fondly called Chacha Nehru, on his birth anniversary. The programme started on auspicious note with Shabad Kirtan presented by the students of classes V & VI. It was followed by floral tributes to Chacha Nehru by the Principal and the Staff. Speaking on the occasion, Principal DPS Jammu Ruchi Chabra and the Headmistress Meenu Gupta called upon the students to emulate the saintly qualities of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and also to enjoy the bliss of childhood while remaining dutiful to their responsibilities.
National Education Day was observed in the Rich Harvest School today. The day was marked in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad for his contributions to the cause of education throughout his life. Students were briefed about the life of Maulana Azad and his contribution in education. Thereafter, a workshop was organized in which the students from nearby slums were invited into the school premises. The students, teachers and the management participated in it.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathua organized National Education Day with enthusiasm and fervour today. The Programme began with the offering of Garland on the photograph of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad by Sushma Gautam, Badkulia Sharma, Gurnam Chand and Gulshan Kumar. Dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp and paid floral tributes to Maulana Azad.
