JAMMU, Nov 13: Former Minister and former Provincial president National Conference, Ajay Sadhotra today advocated for providing better facilities to the budding sportspersons and lavished praise on young cricketers while distributing prizes among the winners and runners-up teams of Under-12 Diwali Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by Kishan Chand Cricket Club at Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy, here.
Mr Sadhotra said that Jammu has enormous sporting talent and the need is to spot and explore it by providing better facilities to the budding sportspersons.
While lauding the organizers for holding the tournament for young cricketers smoothly and successfully, Mr Sadhotra said that kids are the future of the State and the nation as well.
Former Minister was accompanied by Ankush Abrol, Member Working Committee JKCA, Ranjeet Singh, Superintendent of Police, Rahul Mahajan, General Secretary KCCC, Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA and Subash Sharma, Sarpanch as the guests of honour.
Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Trophy player was also present on the occasion.
Apart from the winners and runners-up trophies, the chief guest distributed individual prizes among the members of both the teams. Young talented batsman, Aarav Mahajan was adjudged as best batsman for scoring 357 runs in the tournament, while Nityam Abrol was declared as best bowler for picking 17 wickets in the tournament.
The chief guest also felicitated coaches Sunil and Rahul, besides umpires Sadiq Hussain and Ashok on the occasion.
Meanwhile, KCCC has decided to hold Under-14 Cricket Tournament at Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy  ground from November 19, 2016. Eight teams will be participating in the event.
