JAMMU, Nov 13: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today asked the administration to ensure adequate facilities for devotees visiting Jhiri Mela here.
He also paid obeisance at the shrine of Baba Jitto and Bua Kaury who sacrificed their lives for the cause and rights of the farmers.
Dr Singh discussed department-wise facilities to be provided to the devotees and particularly reviewed the position with regard to power, water supply, sanitation, traffic management, security arrangements, availability of essentials and medical facilities.
Dr Singh also said that it is matter of honor for Jammu and Kashmir to have such a revered religious place in our state where people in lakhs come from outside to pay obeisance.
The Deputy Chief Minister was given a brief about the preparedness of the district administration by the concerned officials and was assured that foolproof arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the historic Mela.
Vice Chairman Kissan Board Daljeet Singh Chib and Mamta Singh also accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister at the shrine of Baba Jitto.
