JAMMU, Nov 18: In a contempt petition, the State High Court has summoned Commissioner Secretary Forest Department and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu, for their personal appearance before the court on November 22.
The direction was given by Justice Alok Aradhe, while hearing a contempt petition. filed against the respondents for non-compliance of the judgment, passed on 20-11-2009, directing the Government to grant benefit of promotion as Forest Guard to the petitioners with retrospective effect in terms of SRO 333, dated 28-11-1991 and SRO 84 dated 19-03-2004.
As per the judgment, dated November 20, 2009, the court direction was to be implemented in letter and spirit within a period of eight weeks but the same was not complied by the contemnors thus showing dis-obedience to the court.
Taking cognizance of non-compliance of the direction, Justice Alok Aradhe observed that the court was left with no other option but to direct the Commissioner Secretary, forest Department and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu to appear in person on November 22, 2016 before this court.
Senior Advocate P N Raina along with Advocate J A Hamal appeared for the petitioners.
