JAMMU, Oct 6: Six day Adolescent Education Programme organised by Shant Gupta Centre for Women Studies, MIER College of Education, concluded today.
The aim of the programme was to generate awareness among the adolescents about various challenges faced by them and how they can prepare themselves to face the complexities of life with more confidence and maturity.
The target group of the programme was students of Class IX of Model Academy School.
The programme was divided into six modules namely Introduction to Adolescence as a concept, Stages of Adolescence, Training in Assertiveness, Chance at buying happiness, Life skills and decision making, Adolescent Health and Stress and its impact.
During the programme, resource persons were Dr Surinder Kour, Controller Examinations, MIER, Monika Marwaha, Lecturer, MIER College of Education, Manju Wali, Teacher, Model Academy, Jasleen Mohial, Coordinator, Model Academy, Auditi Malhotra, Lecturer, MIER College of Education and Monika Rathore, Project Director, CWS.
The resource persons oriented the adolescents on the key problems faced by them during this crucial phase of their life and told that adolescence is not just physical growth it is also the emotional and mental growth of an individual. They also gave tips for stress management and health care.
The whole programme was quite educative and informative for the adolescents who also enjoyed the sessions through power-point presentations and video clippings.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director, MIER, said that such programme would go a long way in helping the participants to deal with delicate phase of their life.
