JAMMU, Nov 26: 5th Christmas Soccer Championship for Students and Youths on the occasion of Christmas will be organized from December 11, 2016 at GGM Science College Football Ground, here.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Fr. Kuriakose at Christian Sports Organization Headquarters, today.
The meeting said that the objective of the tournament is to provide platform to the students and youths of the state to showcase their sports talent, to engage youth in sports activities so that they may not derail from the mainstream and help them to shun drugs. The Slogan of the tournament shall be ‘Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs’.
Threadbare discussions were held in a meeting for all arrangement and for the smooth conduct of the tournament, it was also decided that the cash prize for winner shall be Rs.20, 000 and cash prize for the runners-up will be Rs10,000. The tournament shall be organized under the banner of Christian Sports Organization, J&K Football Association Jammu and J&K Police Department and will be played on knockout basis and only 12 teams will be registered.
The members of the Christian Sports Organization present in the meeting included Rajesh Gill, President; Asif Gill, Secretary; David Mattoo, Sports Secretary, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Victor Sotra, William Mattoo, Sunny Gill, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod.
The organizers have asked the teams interested to take part in the tournament to register their names for the participation in the said tournament by or before December 5,2016.
